Psychotherapy Services
I provide virtual weekly individual therapy to adults located within New York State. Individual therapy can take many forms. I adapt my style based on your unique goals and can incorporate techniques from various cognitive-behavioral therapies, psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness. I do not pathologize your substance use. I respect your autonomy, focusing on how substances function in your life and whether you view them as an obstacle or not.
Psychodynamic therapy often involves understanding how past experiences may be influencing the present. Through deep listening, thoughtful feedback, and reflection, I engage as an active participant in the therapeutic process. I also offer support in identifying helpful tools, building coping skills, and connecting with practical solutions or resources when appropriate. Together, we may explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that aren’t immediately obvious to identify the source and context of recurring patterns. Insight and clarity can often evolve through this process.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed method that uses bilateral stimulation (BLS) - often through tapping or tactile cues - that is understood to help come into contact with, unlock, and reprocess painful or distressing memories. New neural pathways are then formed by connecting traumatic memories with new information. This can offer relief from limiting beliefs and patterns resulting from unresolved trauma. I offer EMDR to clients after we’ve established a foundation of at least three months of talk therapy.
